About Travel Customs

Hi, I’m Jacob. Travel Customs is where I write about traveling the U.S. as a family without spending a fortune — the real itineraries we followed, what things actually cost, and what we’d do differently next time.

The name has a double meaning. Customs as in the traditions a family builds on the road — the diner breakfast on day one, the playlist that means “we’re almost there.” And customs as in the crossing into somewhere new, even when “somewhere new” is two states over.
